Description

On March 4, 1885, Grover Cleveland was sworn in for his first term of office, becoming the 22nd President of the United States. Portraits of Cleveland and his Vice President, Thomas Hendricks, are printed on the front cover of this small booklet, with the words "Souvenir of the Inaugural Ball, March 4th, 1885." On the back cover is printed an illustration of a building and the caption "New Pension Building." There is a golden cord with a tassel tied to a small pencil and looped around the spine of the booklet.

This booklet is a dance card, in which guests signed their names to reserve specific dances at the Inaugural Ball with potential partners.
